Pompey - down and out. But never forgotten.

So, it seems, Portsmouth FC have had the worst season to say the least. Rock bottom in the Premier League, debts of over £100 million or something stupid like that, and relegated to the Championship. Yet, I reckon Pompey had more fans than Chelsea today. That's what I love about the FA Cup, there's always certain ties that have an extra side story behind it. Pompey manager Avram Grant who was sacked (unfairly!) by Chelsea came up against his former employers. The rich vs the poor. The best vs the worst. Surely, Chelsea would demolish such a team.

Again, thats what I love about the FA Cup, the match itself was great. Chelsea proved victorious, although Pompey played with their hearts. Kevin-Prince Boatang lost his nerve when it came down to his penalty to put Pompey ahead, and had it saved. Lampard on the other end missed his penalty uncharacteristically after a Drogba free kick that put them ahead. Speaking of Drogs, that player is something else. Against all the adversity he faced in the early parts of his Chelsea career (Diving, deceit, expressing his views against Barca) he has come back a stronger force and a deadly striker to come against. Lets see if he can carry his form into South Africa.

My personal attachment to Pompey is the fact that my sister went to Uni there a couple years back, so i've seen Fratton and what they offer. My sister, not a big fan of football, would always get excited when Pompey had a match or was mentioned. They probably lost the result, but she was still repping! Wheres Kingston's local team, probably Fulham.

So yeah, congratulations to Chelsea, a well deserved double. Arsenal need to up the game. Thats the 09/10 season almost done with, bring on the World Cup South Africa!
