World Cup 2010 starts now!

The World Cup is finally here! Football fans worldwide get to witness on the biggest stage of them all the history that is about to be made. As a football fan, i'm going to be glued to the sports headlines throughout, and not just focusing on England. With the likes of Brazil, Portugal, France, and favourites Spain playing, what more can I ask for?

The 'Box' aka Uni room 2009/2010

End of August/Early September. I view a few houses as my place for halls went missing. After two house viewings, and a longass walk down Portsmouth Road and Windmill Lane (Trust me, you probably won't be familiar with the roads. But when i mean longass on a very hot summers day, i mean it!) We come across a little house. I come upstairs and come across the infamous 'box room'. Reluctantly, I said to myself i'd get used to it.

9 months on, and i'm more comfortable than expected. Everyone laughs at the size of my room, some called it a walk-in wardrobe, the cupboard to Narnia, a box room, a prison cell, a joke, ha ha ha, shame, and many more. But you know what? I've learnt to like it. I had no choice! So, a uni year on, and i decided to show you a crap photographic 360 of the Box. Its not much, but its 'mine', and i've had fun!

Packing starts from tomorrow/Monday - Time to go back to the mamas cooking for the Summer (in stages anyway). I'm not saying goodbye officially yet, but in the meantime, the start of the end of the 'Box' is here.

First Year - (check) A kickass Summer? - (Pending)

A crazy, up and down, laughs and jokes, sleepness nights and early mornings, a couple drunken nights and good company has made this first year one to remember! It feels weird that its over and Summer is finally here, felt like a long way away when we were all in Sept/Oct - the time where we'd look forward to the upcoming year. It's been an unexpected one though, i'm not drunk every day, i have a healthy bank account and i'm more fit than i probably have ever been! Strange? I'm not complaining! I'm no longer that same guy - i'm better (or worse, mwahahahaha).

Looking forward, i got a few targets to hit this Summer anyway. Just cos im academically finished, doesn't necessarily mean the hard work stops there. Whats up and coming?

- Wireless Festival 2010 - I'm going to go, Drake and Jay-Z and others? I missed out last year, Kid Cudi and Kanye! Have to go this year.

- New Job? - Pending. In the pipeline. Either way, i need to change the trade. It'll be a personal moment to go. HAHA, not really, it's about time.

- Paintballin' - Me and Louie bought tickets for a reasonable price, i think it would be nice to shoot some people for all the digs they may have done. Then again, i'm probably gonna be a prime target!

Holiday - "Take a holiday, do what you want to baby!" - Holiday - Dizze Rascal. Basically, i want to escape the concrete zoo of London.

Work experience - A magazine has a media opportunity, considering taking it. Depends on the holiday.

Home - Theres no place like home! Can't wait to see the friends and spend time with the family again - even the most stupid things can make it all worth while.

World Cup 2010 - Once every four years, I don't think it could have come at a better time! Football Summer, good luck tryna get the guys attention during this period ladies!

House hunting - An ambitious house hunt, the palace for the next two years! Let the hunt begin.

But for the mean time, HAKUNA MATATA MOTHER-THUGGERS!!

The myth called 'Luck'.

Almost crunch time for the last exam! Going over revision, its looking quietly positive. Don't wanna bring any bad luck to it, but its going okay so far. I've been abit squeezed for time for social reasons, but i'll find a way to hit the exam out the park! Luck is something we all like to have, but I hear wise words that say, 'You create your own luck'. I find that to be true. And i've been a very lucky person, and of late, i've been given opportunities that could potentially see me progress.

Perseverance > Progression > Perfection.

Luck is not in that equation. If Lady Luck aids me, than let her shall.

Summer Scorcher!

Summers officially here! Well, for everyone else anyway! I'm still stuck in my prison cell revising for my exams, don't finish til the 2nd of June! Only a week or so to go, but it still hurts to be hiding from the sun while everyone goes out to 'play'. Well, at least i won't turn dark if i stick to my guns and do some work.

Oh well, just a couple summer bangers in the meantime!

The master of mind games. The chief. The Gaffa. The Manager. The Best.

Jose Mourinho added another title to his collection of achievements today, as he won the Champions League title for Inter Milan (who have not lifted the trophy for 45 years). Being the second time he has won the title (previously with Porto in '04) he has won all there is to win in the Italian game. Inter done the treble by winning Serie A and the domestic cup. Rumours have it he's jetting off to Real Madrid.

I think he deserves to be at the top of the footballing world, and he can probably be proclaimed as the best manager in the modern game. He even goes up against the longest serving manager in the Premier League Mr Sir. Alex Ferguson. Mourinho's style of confidence, style and winning mentality emulates the characteristics of Muhammed Ali, Mayweather Jnr and even Cristiano Ronaldo. Alot of people probably dislike the manner in which he does his job - maybe abit too cocky - but that's just the way he is. There's no doubt he cannot back up his talk, his achievements can confirm his gob and his wit.

I think it's fair to say that the Premier League do miss such a character, but we will definitely hear his ego and character spread across the footballing world anytime soon, whether it is in Milan or in Madrid.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jnr. Aka. Lil Wayne.

So, i mentioned possibly the best rapper alive in a blog previously, but didn't write much. Possibly because I wasn't ready at the time to commit to such an important blog on my page at the time. This is for the self-proclaimed best rapper alive, LIL WAYNE! His unique appeal and his individualism makes him his own, in his own catergory, in his own world, a world far from one that we are from.

What makes this guy the success he is? I don't want to go into his history, you can do that yourself.

(LIL WAYNE THA CARTER DOCUMENTARY) watch the full documentary http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTM3MjE3MTc2.html

But this guy is inspirational for what he represents. He has grinded his way in the game from knee high to today, and is the definition of 'perseverance'. He probably has as much unreleased material as Tupac, and he's still alive. His lyrical content has developed alot through the time and his freestyle ability without the need to write is sensational. I haven't been a fan since day one, but i heard the global hype at around Tha Carter II, and got a copy of Tha Carter 3 when it came out through a friend recommendation. And boy, was I amazed.

All his songs can stand alone, and he leaves his heart on the tracks. What's scary, is the fact that he has alot more where that came from. A mind full of thoughts, a mind full of rhymes, he is dominating the rap game today. Despite being in prison for previous gun charges, he has worked hard to make his presence felt even when he's locked inside.

So why have i decided to talk about the phenomenon today? Quite simply, his music inspires me to work AS hard as him. Its funny how music motivates people to do certain things. His perseverance can be felt through his music, his determination and belief that he IS the best can be felt through his lyrics and voice. His self-confidence is out of this world. And as long as he stays that way, i'll be addicted to listening to his music to keep working myself.

A couple tunes that have caught the ear:

'I'm Me'

"Hit 'Em Up'

"Mr Carter"

A Kid Named Cudi - Again.

Its rare that you see a Converse campaign, but this one caught my attention. Not only because it's converse, but because it has the artist i've been hooked on lately Mr Kid Cudi.

Just another point, cop his mixtape! I didn't appreciate all the songs on there when I first got it, I simply blasted 'Day N Nite' out my car thinking, 'man, i'm sick!' But now listening to it on my iPhone, the songs are so unique and strange, yet, i feel i'm on the same wavelength with him. Couple big tunes on there include

- Cleveland is the Reason
- Man on the Moon
- Day N Nite (obviously!)
- The Prayer

But that's my selection, i'd gladly go through the whole album. Not once have i said that about an album, apart from probably College Dropout, Uncle B or Tha Carter III. Even so, get it while you can, its dead cheap!

I should really cop his album to support the movement. Time Soon Come Yah?!

Arsenal + Barca = Frustration

A little birdie tells me that Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas is leaving Arsenal for Barcelona - where have we all heard that before? (cough* Thierry *cough) Rumours have been speculating long, long ago and obviously all Arsenal fans were reassured that these were just rumours. It was simply the same situation with Monsieur Thierry Henry - Arsenals greatest player.

Fabulous Fabregas is going to go. Lets face it, he wants to sort his future out before the World Cup, and who's to blame him? I would do the exact same thing before such a big tournament. Why play in doubt of not knowing where you're playing next season when you're on the biggest stage of them all. Funny thing is, he's got an Arsenal contract, and a future ahead of him. So why is he leaving? I remember him saying he wanted to help the youth project that Mr Wenger has been working on for so long, and wanted to be a central part in a 'developing team' win silverware. So, why is this guy, captain of the Gunners, 'apparently' asking permission to leave for arguably the best team in the world?! Fair shout, its an amazing opportunity, but with such temptations from bigger clubs taking away our players, what example is that making for the young guns? As soon as a big club come calling, you just jump ship? It just frustrates me as an Arsenal fan to see our big guns go to better teams, and leave us constantly developing players and accepting being there just for the sake of it.

It just annoys me having to 'reminisce' about the golden age, where we were dubbed 'The Invincibles", being unbeaten all season! Where did it go wrong? Well, Cole got greedy, Vieira went to Juve, Edu, Pires, Ljungberg, Campbell, Lauren, Lehmann, all went, and eventually, Henry. The team paved way for the young ones to fill the boats. Nothing good lasts forever, but, we're just not winning anything. Wengers formula for 'development' seems to have passed its sell-by- date as the game has changed. Money is, unfortunately, required to strengthen the teams of today. Fair do's - Arsenal are an established, solid top four team. But are we just gonna accept qualifying for a tournament in which we will not succeed in with 'developing players'? Arsenal fans are possibly the most patient fans in the world. But Mr Wenger, the genius that you are, the formula of the Invincibles team needs to be updated, edited, and apply to the modern game of today.

So, if Fabregas goes, I won't be surprised. I wish him the best of luck. He has the ability to be amongst the best, and undoubtedly he deserved to be amongst the elite. As an Arsenal fan, im disappointed that such a thing is happening once again. As a Fabregas fan, I support the move. We shall wait and see what developments occur.

Pre Season

So, i've been going gym almost four times a week now, and it feels good! I personally don't see a physical change in my shape, but apparently it's looking good! Probably cos i see myself everyday, so im oblivious. Either way, it's got me motivated and, i'm glad i've had the motivation to keep going, thanks to my boy Louie who's helping with my training, and Tai aswell who doesn't come that often anymore, but when he does it's nice to have that little competition.
Training pretty much consists of two days working arms, shoulders, chest and back, while the other two days purely on legs. Cardio is always put in there somewhere for warm ups/warm downs, so every area is covered to an extent. But when Louie finishes his year, it's gonna be me training solo! Uh-Oh?! I should be okay to keep going, i'm gonna challenge myself for it anyway, be an independent trainer, see how long i last.

All this training has got me wanting to come back to football again. Now the seasons over, i'm willing to start training pre-season to get myself in football shape again. Gonna have to get myself a new pair (being the girl that I am) and start pinging them footballs into the net, get the free kicks on point again, and get the sprints faster. As the summer season is almost upon us, all the reason to start kicking ball again!

Riding the tides.

I worked the weekend, and i was told on several occasions that I never complain - I never moan, and they liked me for that. But truthfully, i'm good at hiding my stress (at times). I just try keep it bottled, because i don't like taking it out on someone when they don't deserve it. Even if they did deserve it, I wouldn't have the intention to vent it out on them.

There's times when i can act like a clown, being silly and not caring about what people think. I try to make people laugh because i like that emotion, laughter. It's not even the attention that I crave, i just like being around a vibe of happy people. As Eminem once said, 'I just hid behind the tears of a clown.'

Eminem is probably one of my favourite rappers of all time. He's so versatile, and I like his material of dark content and lyrics. At times like this, he's someone I can turn to and mellow out to his classic tunes.

Maybe it's just my independence and freedom out here. I've enjoyed it so much, i think i lost myself and the basic fundamentals i used to live by. I focused so much on 'living the life', sometimes i forgot to sit down and reassess the situations around me, the handful of friends who know who I am, the family that have taught me the values I should live by, the commitment to Buddhism and being sensible. It's easy to say, i'm having one of THOSE days.

Just reflecting on todays shift, I came into work an hour early to finish off some work that didn't get finished off from Saturday evening. My assistant manager said that I didn't have to, but i insisted. Came in, done the work in the stockrooms downstairs then back upstairs to my usual call of duty and running headlessly to get everyones orders for trainers. It was busy cos we were short staffed, but i'm used to it now. Its stressful, but doing well requires a calm head otherwise it'll explode.
Anyways it come to the end of the shift and my assistant manager says he'll pay me what i'm owed for doing the extra hour. Surprisingly, i didn't expect to be reimbursed of my labour, i just simply wanted to help ease the problem. Now, he's not the most popular guy in the workplace, but i still show him respect as he is my senior. I look at how my peers talk to him sometimes, and i feel that he isn't respected for his position. Then again, i'm just there to get the job done, and out.

So what's the point in all that bullshit? I'm just reflecting on my day. Nothing special. I don't expect you to read this far anyway. It was raining on the way back, took about 45 minutes just to match my dull mood. I know alot of people who would complain constantly, probably broadcast it on Facebook and take it out on everyone around. But what stops me? What keeps me going, keeping to myself and not showing my frustration?

I give the credit to my amazing parents. I sat there on the bus on the way back home, head resting on the window listening to 'Never Let Me Down' by Kanye, and thought to myself, 'thank you mum and dad'. If there are any role-models in my life, its my mum and dad. They bought me and my four sisters up in a council house, not earning as much as other people but managed to feed us all, clothe us and make us happy. I think about my childhood, and what they have done for me. I still remember the day when i got my PlayStation, the old school grey one with the non-analog pads. My cousin copied us a couple games including Tekken 3 and Crash Bandicoot 1. Just thinking, how did my dad manage to afford to get me such an amazing thing in my life, the pride and joy of my life. Even my sisters laugh when we look back, they tried to take the PlayStation into there room early one morning just to play it but my dad clocked them and told them off. LOL! It just makes me appreciate that I have been treated and bought up well. My parents couldn't afford the best that my working class friends could afford, but i still made do. Obviously, when i was younger, I wanted to join a football team, or buy the latest games or football boots, but simply my parents covered me with the basics. I was jealous at my friends no lie. But i still had a happy childhood without the unnecessary products that my friends had.

I think that's where i've lost myself. I've had a part time job since I was about 13, non stop. I lost my weekends during secondary school, in which i dont regret now, but felt i missed out at the time. I was making money, in my eyes, more than what my friends could afford. I could then go out to buy what i wanted, but sparingly as my mum would always give me the 'vietnamese mum' look when i'd come home with a JD bag or a Sports World bag (i kept buying footie tops lol). My mum and dad kept telling me to save my money, save my money, save my money.
I did well i must admit. Saved about £600 or so through my secondary school years, which seems quite alot thinking about it. It went to my driving lessons exclusively, im glad to say i paid for every minute of my driving lessons. I got myself a car with the help of my father (my mum was quite reluctant), but i got there. I've got what i wanted. But the question I ask myself is: 'now what'?

I can get what I want, but do i really appreciate it for the value it's worth? Reminds me of the film 'Wizard of Oz', where she travels down the yellow-brick road. I can get to where i want to go, but i want to appreciate the journey to get there more than anything. Which is why im probably looking back on my past to where i am now. Looking back. I've taken alot for granted, i've been given so many opportunities thanks to my family and friends, but how do i show thanks? I think that's where i'm learning. I've done enough receiving, i think it's time for some giving.

Right now, i'm gonna have to ride solo for a while. Spending time socialising in the first year of uni is what it's all about, but i have literally not slowed down once since about Christmas probably, sparingly. I think my engine of personality is running out of happiness (how tacky LOL!) I just need a break. Let's not kid, i'm no Lil Wayne who works 24/7, as he says, "We are not the same, I am a martian." I've had enough socialising for now. I'm going to go find myself.

Thank you for reading, you must have time.

Traphik - YouTube phenomenon at its funniest.

http://www.youtube.com/user/TimothyDeLaGhetto2

Youtube director, this guy has too much time on his hands. But he's doing good for himself, he addresses everyday issues with his touch of asian humour (which, i'm fluent in myself *BIG'EAD MOMENT*). I don't agree with everything he says, but he's brave enough to broadcast his opinion, which i respect. Random videos of almost anything, if you have, somehow, time to kill - hit his vids, recommended!

Indeed.

"It’s hard to tell when in his company;
spend a few hours with him and he’ll crack jokes,
maybe talk in odd voices.
He’s a bundle of contradictions,
enough to make you wonder which side of him you’re going to meet next.
The lonely stoner or the people person?
The class clown or the prisoner of his own paranoia?
Let the analysis begin..."

They know him as Drizzy, Drake.

2009. Releases LOADS of underground mixtapes. Signs up to the new big label that is Young Money. Lil Wayne as back up. Songs that reach the billboard charts for fun. Collaborations with the likes of Jay-Z, Eminem, Mary J Blige to say the least. Performs at the Grammys. And he hasn't even released his first album yet. Drake is a beast in the game, but he's not your typical rapper that boasts something that he isn't. Reading an article (http://www.complex.com/CELEBRITIES/Cover-Story/Drake?page=5) Drake comes across as a guy who has a blueprint already in his head, and chooses his paths wisely without the fear of making the wrong choice. His content can vary from rapping, singing, and hes even done acting. The guy is, key word, versatile. I think that's what you need in the game. As well as an individual appeal. 2009 was a big year for the Canadian, and he's still in the picture for 2010. With his eagerly anticipated album out in June - how much success is on the horizon for Drake?

Pompey - down and out. But never forgotten.

So, it seems, Portsmouth FC have had the worst season to say the least. Rock bottom in the Premier League, debts of over £100 million or something stupid like that, and relegated to the Championship. Yet, I reckon Pompey had more fans than Chelsea today. That's what I love about the FA Cup, there's always certain ties that have an extra side story behind it. Pompey manager Avram Grant who was sacked (unfairly!) by Chelsea came up against his former employers. The rich vs the poor. The best vs the worst. Surely, Chelsea would demolish such a team.

Again, thats what I love about the FA Cup, the match itself was great. Chelsea proved victorious, although Pompey played with their hearts. Kevin-Prince Boatang lost his nerve when it came down to his penalty to put Pompey ahead, and had it saved. Lampard on the other end missed his penalty uncharacteristically after a Drogba free kick that put them ahead. Speaking of Drogs, that player is something else. Against all the adversity he faced in the early parts of his Chelsea career (Diving, deceit, expressing his views against Barca) he has come back a stronger force and a deadly striker to come against. Lets see if he can carry his form into South Africa.

My personal attachment to Pompey is the fact that my sister went to Uni there a couple years back, so i've seen Fratton and what they offer. My sister, not a big fan of football, would always get excited when Pompey had a match or was mentioned. They probably lost the result, but she was still repping! Wheres Kingston's local team, probably Fulham.

So yeah, congratulations to Chelsea, a well deserved double. Arsenal need to up the game. Thats the 09/10 season almost done with, bring on the World Cup South Africa!
